Key aspects of the Shoulder Season include:
– A quieter atmosphere compared to peak season.
– Fantastic safari opportunities.
– Potential for lower prices, making it an appealing option for budget-conscious travelers.
– The festive period from mid-December to mid-January tends to be busy and pricey, so booking in advance is advisable.
The Great Migration’s route during this season is as follows:
– December to March: Ndutu, Southern Serengeti
– April to May: Grumeti, Western Serengeti
– June to July: Seronera, Central Serengeti
– July to September/October: Lobo/Kogatende, Northern Serengeti

Climbing Kilimanjaro is challenging but achievable with proper preparation. The main difficulty comes from the altitude and the long days of trekking. Physical fitness, acclimatization, and mental determination are key to a successful summit.
We offer a user-friendly booking platform where you can search for your desired destination, choose your travel dates, and select from a variety of options. Follow the simple steps to confirm your booking.
Altitude sickness is managed by gradual acclimatization, staying hydrated, eating well, and following a “climb high, sleep low” strategy. Guides are trained to recognize symptoms and can administer first aid or emergency descent if necessary.
It’s advisable to book your trek at least 3 to 6 months in advance, especially if you plan to climb during the peak seasons. This allows ample time for preparation, training, and securing necessary permits.
Most treks take between 6 to 9 days, depending on the route and the schedule. Longer itineraries allow for better acclimatization and increase the chances of reaching the summit.
a) Fill out the reservation forms and send them to Gladiola Adventure Ltd we will confirm the availability and send you an invoice that will require a deposit of 40% of safari or any other inquired service cost. After your booking has been confirmed, should you wish to make any changes to your itinerary or wish an earlier departure date, we will make every effort to accommodate your requests based on availability. However, there may extra costs involved to accommodate your request. These costs are in addition to the fee quoted to you for your initial safari. Normal cancellation fees apply if you wish to postpone your departure.

During late January and February, it’s calving season, offering the opportunity to witness baby zebras and wildebeest. These months are relatively dry with occasional rain. The rainfall triggers the calving season for most herbivores, providing excellent chances to observe predator hunts. Picture the intense scenes unfolding between mothers, their calves, and hungry predators prowling the surrounding areas. If you want to witness such thrilling moments, book your safari with us this season. The abundance of vulnerable calves increases the frequency of predator kills.

9. The following areas are only allowed with a Toyota Land Cruiser and are NOT allowed with a Toyota RAV4:
a) Serengeti – the main road running from Naabi Hill gate to Seronera, the center of action, and from Seronera radiating to the East and West, is notorious among all tour guides in Tanzania for its condition. It is a challenging road due to the rocky surface with washboard ribbons. We do allow self-drive safaris into the Serengeti but a Land Cruiser is required. We cannot stress enough to drive slowly (25km/h) and carefully on this road! Single vehicle roll-overs are NOT covered by the insurance.
b) Road towards Lake Natron.
c) Selous Game Reserve.
10. Travel to Lake Tanganyika and Gombe Stream National Park is ONLY allowed with a Land Cruiser and upon prior written confirmation by Gladiola Adventure. Western Tanzania lags behind in terms of economic development and very few tourists make it to the far West. The road network is not well maintained and it is challenging to follow up adequately in case the car has a mechanical problem.
11. Gladiola Adventure strongly recommends NOT driving before sunrise (approx. 6.30 AM) and after sunset (approx. 6.30 PM).
12. The Hirer is not allowed to cross any international borders.
13. All Vehicles are GPS tracked by us and we can switch the vehicle off/on if the hairier did not obtain a permit to venture into international borders prior to the attempt.
14. Hirers are advised to install the free App Maps.me on their Smartphone before travel and download the Tanzania Maps, so they can drive on GPS.
28. A security bond of USD 300 is required through Cash reservation. Upon return of the car, the vehicle will be inspected by our staff. When the vehicle and camping equipment are in acceptable condition, the USD 300 Cash freeze will be released. In case of strong doubts which cannot be verified on-site, the vehicle is brought to our workshop, and the bond, if any, partially or in full, will be charged.
This period, spanning from June to October, promises optimal conditions for an unforgettable safari experience. Here’s why:
– June and July stand out as the prime months to witness the majestic wildebeest migration.
– August to September is the opportune time to observe the spectacular wildebeest river crossings in northern Serengeti.
Key advantages of the Dry Season include:
– Animals are easily spotted as they congregate around waterholes and rivers.
– The lower mosquito presence due to minimal rainfall enhances your comfort.
– Clear skies and abundant sunshine characterize most days.
– Mornings and nights can get chilly, so packing warm clothing is advisable.
For those in pursuit of the best weather and remarkable wildlife spectacles, the Dry Season is an ideal choice.
This agreement is made subject to and shall be governed by and construed according to the laws of the Tanzania in which the safari or other tour takes place.

If one of our guides is unable to take a safari due to illness, etc. we reserve the right to substitute with another guide.
The main routes are the Marangu, Machame, Lemosho, Rongai and Umbwe routes. Each route varies in terms of difficulty, scenery, and acclimatization opportunities.
Essential gear includes proper hiking boots, thermal clothing, waterproof jackets and pants, a warm sleeping bag, a daypack, and a larger duffel bag. It’s also important to have trekking poles, a headlamp, a first aid kit, and sun protection.
In case of an emergency, guides are trained in first aid and carry emergency equipment. Evacuation plans are in place, and there are rescue teams available. Communication devices are used to contact base camp and organize evacuations if needed.
The best times to climb Mount Kilimanjaro are during the dry seasons, which are from late June to October and from late December to early March. These periods offer the most stable weather conditions and better visibility.

During late January and February, the calving season unfolds, offering a unique opportunity to witness the birth of baby zebras and wildebeest. This presents incredible chances to observe predator hunts—a captivating spectacle of action between mothers, their calves, and hungry predators prowling the surrounding areas.
If you’re eager to witness these thrilling moments, book your safari with us this season. The abundance of vulnerable calves increases the frequency of predator kills, providing a remarkable and immersive wildlife experience.

As the long rains breathe life back into the dry bush, transforming it into a lush haven of greenery, the wet season offers a unique experience at a lower cost. Game parks are less crowded during this period, especially in the northern circuit, although some lodges in the southern and western circuits may temporarily close. This presents an opportunity for travelers to benefit from discounted rates at the lodges that remain open.
For nature enthusiasts, the wet season is a haven for bird watchers, providing a chance to observe numerous rare bird species. It’s important to note, however, that the increased rainfall also brings a surge in malarial mosquitoes. If you choose to embark on your safari during this season, ensure you seek the right advice regarding anti-malarial medications for a safe and enjoyable journey.

This agreement is made subject to and shall be governed by and construed according to the laws of the Tanzania in which the safari or other tour takes place.
During late January and February, the calving season unfolds, offering a unique opportunity to witness the birth of baby zebras and wildebeest. These months mark the drier season with occasional rain, triggering the calving season for most herbivores.
Our cancellation policy varies depending on the travel product and provider. You can find detailed information about cancellation fees and deadlines in the booking confirmation and on our website.
We accept various payment methods, including credit cards, debit cards, and online payment gateways. You can find more details during the booking process.
Please be aware that these safaris may take you into close contact with wild animals. Attacks by wild animals are rare, but no safari into the African wilderness can guarantee that this will not occur. Neither Gladiola Adventure Ltd, nor their employees, can be held responsible for any injury or incident on the safari. Please note that most safari camps in Africa are not fenced. You are insisted to obey the park rules as the guide will always remind you even after his first briefing on this.
Yes, we can arrange group travel or customize trips to suit your preferences. Please reach out to our team to discuss your specific requirements.
We recommend considering travel insurance for your trip. While we don’t directly provide comprehensive travel insurance, all our safari packages include short-term cover insurance from AMREF Flying Doctors. This insurance ensures quality and affordable air ambulance evacuation services across the East African region, catering to individuals and small groups engaged in holiday, business, conferences, sports, and other adventure activities.
While we provide this coverage, it is essential for guests to acknowledge that they bear the responsibility to carry the correct comprehensive travel insurance.

– June to July: Seronera, Central Serengeti

November to March is referred to as the green (or shoulder) season in Tanzania. While it may not be the absolute best time to visit, it presents excellent opportunities for exploration with fewer visitors. During this time, the migrating herds return to Tanzania, and calving begins in southeast Serengeti in January.
Key aspects of the Shoulder Season include:
– A quieter atmosphere compared to peak season.
– Fantastic safari opportunities.
– Potential for lower prices, making it an appealing option for budget-conscious travelers.
– The festive period from mid-December to mid-January tends to be busy and pricey, so booking in advance is advisable.
The Great Migration’s route during this season is as follows:
– December to March: Ndutu, Southern Serengeti
– April to May: Grumeti, Western Serengeti
– June to July: Seronera, Central Serengeti
– July to September/October: Lobo/Kogatende, Northern Serengeti
For those seeking a more serene safari experience with the chance to witness the Great Migration, the Shoulder Season can be a favorable choice.

On receipt of your deposit, we will, subject to availability, reserve your place on your selected safari itinerary. Once you receive your confirmation invoice, your reservation is confirmed and accepted by us.

Key aspects of the Shoulder Season include:

– The festive period from mid-December to mid-January tends to be busy and pricey, so booking in advance is advisable.
The Great Migration’s route during this season is as follows:
– December to March: Ndutu, Southern Serengeti
– April to May: Grumeti, Western Serengeti
– June to July: Seronera, Central Serengeti
– July to September/October: Lobo/Kogatende, Northern Serengeti
For those seeking a more serene safari experience with the chance to witness the Great Migration, the Shoulder Season can be a favorable choice.

During late January and February, it’s calving season, offering the opportunity to witness baby zebras and wildebeest. These months are relatively dry with occasional rain.

During late January and February, the calving season unfolds, offering a unique opportunity to witness the birth of baby zebras and wildebeest. These months mark the drier season with occasional rain, triggering the calving season for most herbivores.

Neither Gladiola Adventure Ltd, nor their employees, can be held responsible for any injury or incident on the safari. Please note that most safari camps in Africa are not fenced. You are insisted to obey the park rules as the guide will always remind you even after his first briefing on this.

22. After an accident, the Hirer should not leave the Vehicle unattended, as it is not uncommon for unattended vehicles to be vandalized.
We have no upper age limits in our camps but we respectfully request that only physically active people join these safaris! Camps do vary with respect to minimum age requirements. We will be able to advise which properties can accommodate younger children.
The airlines concerned are not to be held liable for any act, omission or event during the time the passengers are not on board their planes or conveyance. The passengers’ tickets in use by the airline or by other carriers concerned when issued shall constitute the sole contract between the airlines and the purchaser of these tickets and/or passengers. Please note that we subcontract the flying services to independent charter operations, and they are responsible for the flying.
Yes, we frequently offer special promotions and discounts. Keep an eye on our website and subscribe to our newsletter to stay updated on the latest deals and offers.
For safety and because space is restricted, baggage in some charter aircraft is restricted to a maximum of 15 kg per person in a soft bag. This includes camera equipment and carry-on baggage. Should guests arrive with excess baggage without prior warning their baggage could be delayed, as we may have to fly the baggage into camps at a later stage at considerable extra cost to you. However, should the guests know in advance that the baggage will exceed the limit; we recommend you book an extra seat for the bags on the aircraft, at an additional cost to them.

Although every effort is made to adhere to schedules it should be borne in mind that the Company reserves the right and in fact is obliged to occasionally change routes and camps on safaris as dictated by changing conditions. Such conditions may be brought about by seasonal rainfall on bush tracks, airfields and in game areas, by game migrations from one region to another, or airline or other booking problems, etc.
The payment of the deposit OR any other partial payment for a reservation on a safari constitutes consent by all guests covered by that payment to all provisions of the conditions and general information contained in this document whether the guest has signed the reservation form or not.

Always call Gladiola Adventure for advice on which type of tires are suitable.
b) Underbody coverage: damage to the underbody of the vehicle is considered a result of careless driving.
c) Windows
24. The car is comprehensive insured against damage as a result of accident or fire, and third party liability to property and bodily injury due to a car accident.

On receipt of your full payment, we will send you more details on safari information, clothing lists, etc. Please ensure that you receive the information before you leave on safari.

Car Hire Ts & Cs
1. The “Owner” means Gladiola Adventure Limited
“You” or the “Hirer” means the person(s) who have signed the Rental Agreement;
The “Rental Agreement” means the rental agreement made between You and the Owner;
“Gladiola Adventure Insurance” means the insurance policy of Gladiola Adventure; “Vehicle” means the vehicle which is rented by you, as described in your online reservation form.
2. The Hirer shall return the Vehicle on the agreed date, as specified in your online reservation form, before 7:00 PM, unless the Owner has specifically agreed otherwise. No refunds shall be given for early returns.
3. The Hirer shall have a valid driver’s license (of the country of residence and/or an International Driver’s License). It is the driver’s responsibility to ensure that he/she carries the driver’s license with him/her whilst driving.
4. The Vehicle is to be operated only by the Hirer who has signed the rental agreement and his authorized travel companions. Any loss or damages arising from the use of the Vehicle by an unauthorized driver shall be borne by the Hirer.
5. Any losses or serious damages of the camping gear shall be charged to the Hirer at replacement value.
6. Any fine or penalty from the traffic police shall be settled by the Hirer.
7. The Vehicle is rented with a full tank of fuel – petrol for Toyota RAV4 and diesel for Toyota LandCruiser – and shall be returned to the Owner with a full tank in order to prevent refueling charges.
8. The Hirer is required to fill up on fuel only at larger gas stations, such as Shell and Total. In some of the smaller gas stations, fuel can be mixed with other liquids or additives, which may seriously damage the Vehicle’s engine.
15. All Vehicles are checked and serviced before being rented out and you will receive the Vehicle in safe and roadworthy condition. The Hirer shall return the Vehicle in the same condition as it was provided at the start of the rental
16. You are responsible for the Vehicle during the rental period and you will use the Vehicle in accordance with good driving practices and in compliance with all laws. Your maintenance of the Vehicle includes checking of engine oil and other lubricants, coolant water, and tire pressure. We recommend doing so every time you are topping up fuel. The costs of the Vehicle’s maintenance during the rental period shall be covered by the Hirer. Failure to maintain appropriate fluid levels may result in engine damage, for which damage the Hirer shall be liable.
17. If any dashboard warning lights illuminate, the Hirer should consult the car symbol check list and, in case of doubt, contact a Gladiola Adventure representative.
18. In case of a mechanical breakdown of the Vehicle which cannot be repaired within 24 hours and which is not the result of your negligence, fault or by that of an approved driver, a replacement Vehicle will be provided and paid for by the Owner on the shortest term possible. Kindly note that replacement Vehicles will have to come from Arusha.
19. In case the Vehicle needs to be repaired during the rental period, the Hirer ensures that:
20. In case of an accident, whether it is your fault or those of the third party, the Hirer shall always immediately notify Gladiola Adventure and take pictures of the damaged Vehicle and the other vehicle(s) involved in the accident.
21. In case of an incident involving one or more vehicle(s), details of these vehicle(s) and their driver(s) should be identified and reported, such as the driver’s ID, telephone number, number plate and insurance registration number.
22. After an accident, the Hirer should not leave the Vehicle unattended, as it is not uncommon for unattended vehicles to be vandalized.
23. Gladiola Adventure cannot be held liable for damages to the rental car when these are not the result of the mechanical condition of the car. The Hirer acknowledges that they are responsible for all repair and recovery costs in case of the following damage:
a) Tires: Gladiola Adventure cars are rented out with top quality tires, but having a flat tire can happen during the road trip and repair is at the expense of the Hirer. Consult the car explanation checklist for instructions. In the event that any of the tires are damaged beyond repair, the Hirer must replace it with a tire of the same dimension, type and wear characteristics and the cost is for the account of the Hirer.
Excess claims beyond the maximum insured by Our Insurance Policy shall be the responsibility of the Hirer. This means that the Hirer’s liability is covered by the Owner’s insurance, provided that none of the events of clause 24 has occurred, and if:
a) you have accepted our Terms & Conditions by having signed the online Rental Agreement;
b) you have complied with the terms of the Rental Agreement;
c) you pay for the excess amount not covered by the Insurance.
25. The Hirer acknowledges that will be fully liable for any damage to the Gladiola Adventure vehicle and/or (third) property, if any of the following events has occurred:
a) Driving in excess of speed limits. Maximum speed limit inside the National Parks is 25 km / hour!
b) Single vehicle incidents or rollover.
c) Damage to the Vehicle is caused by careless, willful or reckless driving.
d) Damage to the Vehicle is caused by lack of proper care / maintenance of the vehicle.
e) Driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
f) Driving on restricted roads / areas.
g) Water submersion or saltwater damage is caused
h) Wrong fuel use
26. Gladiola Adventure shall, to the maximum extent permitted by law, not be liable for any loss, damage or injury of any nature of the Hirer or the approved driver.
27. Gladiola Adventure cannot accept liability or pay compensation for unforeseen circumstances beyond its control or its staff, including flight delays/cancellations or force majeure such as war or threat of war, riots, civil disturbances, terrorist acts, border closure, acts of government or other authorities, strikes, thefts, epidemics, road closures, industrial disputes, natural or nuclear disaster, extreme weather conditions, fire, technical and/or mechanical problems to transport and all similar events beyond Gladiola Adventure’s control.
