8 Day Tanzania Camping Safari
These 8 days will be truly unforgettable. A basic camping safari offers a pure experience of African nature. Envision yourself, along with your friends and family, falling asleep in a sleeping bag under the African sky, with the distant roars of lions and the occasional calls of hyenas, creating an authentic atmosphere. This is a unique opportunity to enjoy dinner under the vast African skies, gather around a campfire, and share inspiring bush stories while listening to the sounds of Tanzania’s wild animals – a distant lion’s roar, a hyena’s giggle, baboons barking, or zebras and impalas galloping past. Our package seamlessly combines the essence of camping with the comfort of staying in a lodge, providing you with the best of both worlds.
Day 1 of 8: Arrival Date
Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, our professional guide will warmly welcome you. We will then drive to Arusha, where you’ll enjoy dinner and spend the night at Tulia Hotel and Spa. Get ready for the adventure that awaits you!
Day 2 of 8: Arusha to Tarangire National Park
Depart from the hotel in the morning for your journey to Tarangire National Park. Known for the highest density of elephants, you can witness herds reaching an impressive number of 300 animals all year round. The Tarangire River provides water throughout the year, attracting various wildlife, especially during the dry season between July and October.
In this season, you’ll have the chance to observe incredible scenes, including lions, giraffes, buffaloes, wildebeest, zebras, and various antelopes and gazelles. With luck, you might even spot a python! Enjoy a picnic lunch at a suitable spot around midday, followed by an afternoon dedicated to wildlife watching. Dinner and overnight at Simba Campsite. Get ready for a memorable safari experience!
Day 3 of 8: Tarangire National Park – Serengeti National Park
In the morning, we’ll leave the camp and journey towards Serengeti National Park, crossing the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority (Loduare Gate). The road to the park’s gates provides an incredible opportunity to witness animals in their natural habitat, often during migration, including wildebeests, zebras, impalas, and lions.
At the gate of Serengeti National Park (Naabi Gate), we’ll enjoy a picnic lunch. You can also follow a trail to the top of the hill, offering stunning views over the famous Serengeti. With a game drive en route, we’ll head to Nyani Campsite for dinner and an overnight stay. Get ready for more exciting wildlife encounters in the Serengeti!
Day 4 of 8: Serengeti National Park
This day promises a full-day game drive in the Serengeti, allowing ample time for wildlife viewing. Begin your morning game drive from the camp, extending into the afternoon. Pause at the picnic site to enjoy lunch with packed meals before resuming the exploration of the park in the late afternoon. This time is ideal for capturing breathtaking pictures of animals and witnessing the mesmerizing sunset. Return to the camp in the evening, reflecting on the day’s incredible wildlife experiences. Prepare for another night surrounded by the sounds of the Serengeti at Nyani Campsite.
Day 5 of 8: Serengeti full day
Embark on another full-day game drive in the vast Serengeti. The park offers a wealth of wildlife, requiring ample time for observation. Start your morning game drive from the camp, continuing until the afternoon. Take a break at the picnic site, enjoying lunch with packed meals while surrounded by the natural beauty of the Serengeti.
Resume the adventure with a late afternoon game drive, perfect for capturing stunning images of animals and the sunset. Return to Nyani Campsite in the evening for a delightful dinner and overnight stay, surrounded by the enchanting sounds of the Serengeti wilderness.
Day 6 of 8: Serengeti – Ngorongoro
Embark on a morning journey to capture the breathtaking sunrise over the Serengeti plains, providing an ideal time for abundant animal sightings. Enjoy a game drive in the Serengeti National Park, exploring the rolling grasslands inhabited by diverse wildlife, including zebras, impalas, and hippos in their natural pools.
In the late afternoon, following lunch at a scenic picnic site, we’ll head towards the Ngorongoro Crater. As you approach the crater’s edge, the approximately 20 km wide caldera unfolds before you, showcasing a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Opt for an additional visit to the Maasai Boma (extra cost) for a cultural experience. Later, proceed to Simba B Campsite, offering a vantage point for witnessing the sunset over the crater.
Day 7 of 8: Empakaai Crater (Ngorongoro)
Explore the lesser-known gem of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, the breathtaking Empakaai Crater. Located about 40 km northeast of its renowned neighbor, the Ngorongoro Crater, Empakaai offers a splendid and less-visited destination. Upon arrival, be captivated by panoramic views of the Empakaai Crater.
Embark on a guided descent into the crater, accompanied by an experienced guide and an NCA ranger. The journey takes approximately 30-45 minutes, leading you through dense mountainous forests. Once on the crater floor, enjoy excellent birding opportunities around the lake, and witness the beauty of flamingos. Encounter significant wildlife such as buffalo, hyenas, and elephants. In the late afternoon, return to Simba B Campsite for a relaxing evening.
Day 8 of 8: Departure Day
Begin your day with an early morning breakfast, followed by a descent to the Ngorongoro Crater, a highly visited African attraction known for its status as the world’s largest inactive, unbroken, and unfilled volcanic caldera. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to observe a diverse array of mammals, including the endangered rhinos, mountain reedbuck, jackals, and numerous bird species, such as white pelicans and flamingos on Lake Ndutu and Lake Magadi.
Depending on your departure flight, we will drive back to Arusha, concluding your unforgettable adventure with Gladiola Adventure.

Wonderful safari experience – highly recommended
The two of us had an absolutely wonderful time for almost three weeks on our roadtrip through Tanzania, visiting several parks. We stayed overnight at most lovely and sometimes remote situated tented-camps. The Tanzanian hosts were always very friendly and helpful. We saw the amazing nature, many, many animals and also the culture of the people.
We thank owner Didas and his team a lot for the personal attention, advice and service, in advance and throughout our trip.
Asante sana to all of you!
